Bio
Joshua Brelsford is an film/ stage actor, director, and musician based in New York City. As of mid-2023, Joshua is the founder and artistic director of the Smoke n’ Shake Theatre Company based out of Uck Billy Cannabis Lounge in Brooklyn, NY. He has achieved a BFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota/ Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program where he honed his classical acting techniques.
Joshua was raised in Pittsburgh, PA. In the ‘Burgh, his pursuit of a career in performing was nurtured by practitioners at the Pittsburgh Public Theater, and teaching artists at the Gemini Children’s Theater. As a result, Joshua roots his artistic practice with a strong sense of curiosity and mentorship. His explorations led him to join the inaugural resident ensemble at Stagedoor Players Theater in Dunwoody, GA where he crafted new renditions of classical plays.
Joshua is always eager to tell a gritty story, but when he is not on stage he is practicing his other passion of the hammered dulcimer, getting lost in a magical-realism novel, or designing a puppet that will make you smile.
